The Second District Dental Society is the local component of the New York State Dental Association and the American Dental Association representing 1,400 member dentists in Brooklyn and Staten Island. Synopsis:
This presentation will describe the importance of preserving hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity and will cover actual cases being treated and followed for many years. It will also cover steps of treatment and materials used. New technology and materials have enabled us to treat our patients conservatively and save teeth structures. The treatment of cases that will be shown are: 

  • Pseudo-class III malocclusion
  • Worn down dentition
  • Bulimic patient
  • Enamel hypoplasia

 All of these cases were treated with minimally invasive methods. Upon successful completion of this course, attendees will receive information about minimally invasive restorative treatment as an effective way of treatment procedure with present materials and technology, following proper diagnosis and treatment procedure. Participants will observe how chronologically the philosophy of treatment was successful.

Refund and Cancellation Policy:
All requests for refunds or credits must be made in writing or by phone and received at least two weeks prior to the course date. A full refund, less a ten dollar ($10.00) administrative charge, or if requested and available, credit for a similarly priced course will be issued. Refunds or credits requested after this date will not be granted, including requests made based on absence due to illness, late arrival for courses and/or weather conditions. In the event that a course is cancelled by Second District, paid tuition will be fully refunded.


FARHAD F. VAHIDI, D.M.D., M.S.D., F.A.C.P. is a tenured associate professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD), where he is also a former program director of the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics and the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Prosthodontics. A full-time faculty member at NYUCD for 40 years, he also maintains a private practice limited to prosthodontics in Manhattan. Dr. Vahidi is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, and a life fellow of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics and the Northeastern Gnathological Society. He is also a past president of the Northeastern Gnathological Society and an active member of many dental organizations including the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the American Dental Association. He has published many articles in peer-reviewed dental journals, as well as chapters in textbooks, and presented for many national and international oral health organizations.

At the direction of SDDS President Dr. Paul Teplitsky, the Constitution & Bylaws Committee, chaired by Dr. Phyllis Merlino, completed the first full revision of the Constitution & Bylaws in more than 10 years. After four months of careful review, the Committee updated outdated language, streamlined committee structures, clarified roles and responsibilities, and modernized provisions to better serve members.
