Clinical Instructor, New York University College of Dentistry
The landscape of restorative dentistry is evolving rapidly, shaped by advances in biomaterials, digital diagnostics and a growing emphasis on preserving natural tooth structure. This lecture explores the continuum of care from minimally invasive dentistry to full implant replacement, highlighting how clinicians can make strategic, evidence-based decisions that optimize long-term patient outcomes. Throughout the lecture, real-world clinical cases will demonstrate decision-making algorithms, highlight risks and benefits of different approaches and compare long-term outcomes between preserving teeth and replacing them. Patient communication strategies will be emphasized—ensuring clinicians can confidently present treatment options, manage expectations and tailor care to each patient’s needs, budget and risk profile. Upon successful completion of this lecture, attendees will be equipped with a clearer roadmap for navigating the restorative spectrum – from the least invasive solutions to implant-supported rehabilitation – bringing clarity, predictability and patient-centered value to their everyday practice.
