The Second District Dental Society is the local component of the New York State Dental Association and the American Dental Association representing 1,400 member dentists in Brooklyn and Staten Island. It is our hope that this website provides our members with information that will aid them in making the most out of their membership. Synopsis:

This course will allow attendees to understand how to achieve predictable bonding and appropriately place anterior and posterior direct composites. It will provide information on different ceramic materials currently available and their placement, as well as on the worn dentition from initial intervention to various techniques to restore at correct vertical dimension. Upon successful completion of the course, attendees will learn:

  • Proper bonding techniques
  • Selection of ceramic materials and cements

  • Restoration of the worn dentition

Refund and Cancellation Policy:
All requests for refunds or credits must be made in writing or by phone and received at least two weeks prior to the course date. A full refund, less a ten dollar ($10.00) administrative charge, or if requested and available, credit for a similarly priced course will be issued. Refunds or credits requested after this date will not be granted, including requests made based on absence due to illness, late arrival for courses and/or weather conditions. In the event that a course is cancelled by Second District, paid tuition will be fully refunded.


RICHARD D. TRUSHKOWSKY, D.D.S. had a private practice on Staten Island since 1978 and is now retired. He is an adjunct clinical professor and associate director of the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Aesthetic Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry. He has published over 100 articles on various topics in many journals and has lectured at many of the major dental meetings. Dr. Trushkowsky has written several book chapters. He is also the editor of a book on porcelain veneers published by Springer Publishing Company and has presented participation courses at the Greater New York Dental Meeting on the subject.

At the direction of SDDS President Dr. Paul Teplitsky, the Constitution & Bylaws Committee, chaired by Dr. Phyllis Merlino, completed the first full revision of the Constitution & Bylaws in more than 10 years. After four months of careful review, the Committee updated outdated language, streamlined committee structures, clarified roles and responsibilities, and modernized provisions to better serve members.
