Featured Clinician:
Fred A. Puccio, D.D.S.
Adjunct Clinical Instructor, Department of General Dentistry and Comprehensive Care, New York University College of Dentistry

Synopsis:
Using case presentations, attendees will learn about digital workflow as an aid to complex multi-discipline dental treatment for improved aesthetics; the use of intraoral scanners for soft-tissue management and streamlined fabrication of custom abutments; and using digital implant dentistry to treat bilateral congenitally missing permanent canines. The first case presentation will demonstrate a multi-disciplinary approach to restoring a failing upper anterior dentition as a result of trauma in the patient’s youth. The patient’s situation was complex due to poor occlusion scheme and the patient required extractions of the anterior maxillary teeth. Using a digital dentistry approach, we established a treatment plan to not only eventually replace the patient’s teeth with implants but also deal with the occlusion. The digital approach aided us in creating a natural esthetic result.

The second case presentation will demonstrate a digital approach to replacing congenitally missing maxillary permanent canines in a patient who had malocclusion. The patient’s condition was complicated due to atrophic alveolar ridges that required bone grafting. She was insistent on a result that would provide her with a natural smile with minimal use of restorations. Attendees will see step by step how this latest technology in IOS, CBCT, 3D printers, CAD/CAM mills and design software can produce high end results, eliminating the stress in implant dentistry. Upon successful completion of this course, attendees will be presented digital implant cases in the aesthetic zone using the latest technology. Implant dentistry is constantly evolving with advancements in 3D intraoral scanners, CBCTs, software and the latest photogrammetry. The latest IOS can be extremely accurate in streamlining implant dentistry and eliminating the analog steps of the past. Attendees will see digital workflows applied to implant dentistry in the smile zone using extremely accurate scanners and software. These digital workflows produce a prosthetically driven treatment plan enabling the dentist to create beautiful natural looking implant restorations.
