Dear Colleagues:

My greetings to all Richmond County members and welcome to a new year of our general membership meetings and events. As we venture into a new year together, we hope this newsletter finds you and your families in good health and spirits.

Richmond County Dental Society (RCDS) and our parent organization, Second District Dental Society (SDDS), are here to address your professional needs and concerns as they occur during your daily endeavors. I sincerely ask for your participation in our societies as they benefit each and every one of us.

Due to COVID-19, our annual RCDS Installation of Officers ceremony that was to be held on January 29, 2022 was cancelled. We are excited to announce that the dinner dance and installation of officers has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Richmond County Country Club. The event will include the installation of the executive board members: Dr. Sandra Scibetta (president), Dr. Joseph Merola (president-elect), Dr. Christen Carute (vice president), Dr. Allison Blutstein (treasurer) and Dr. Bryan Pieroni (secretary). Also to be inducted are our current trustees: Dr. Lydia Lam (immediate past president), Dr. Alan Ingber, Dr. Michael Costa, Dr. Phyllis Merlino, Dr. Rebecca Orlick and Dr. Brian Perrone. And honoring Dr. Phyllis Merlino as the recipient of the Richmond County Dental Society Lifetime Achievement Award.

We want to thank Dr. Lydia Lam for an exceptional and unprecedented year as our 2021 president. Throughout the year, Dr. Lam worked diligently to provide collaboration between the RCDS and its members, to maintain the integrity of our profession and our organization.

Our first RCDS general membership meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 7 p.m. in person, at Nino’s Restaurant. It will feature Louis F. DeSantis, D.D.S., F.A.C.P., who will lecture on the subject "Defining Bruxism: Causation, Treatment and Cure."  Advance registration is required for this event, register here today. Our remaining RCDS meetings for the 2022 calendar year will be held on: May 17, September 20, October 18 and November 15. The subjects and presenters of the remaining lectures will be announced at a later date.

The New York State Dental Association House of Delegates meeting will be held from June 10-12, 2022, in Saratoga Springs, New York. Richmond County Dental Society will be represented by delegates: Dr. Michael J. Donato Jr., Dr. Raymond Flagiello, Dr. Sandra Scibetta, Dr. Paul Albicocco, and alternate delegates: Dr. Valerie Venterina, Dr. Phyllis Merlino, Dr. Joseph Merola, Dr. Marc Meiselman, Dr. Charles Mistretta,  Dr. Joseph Cipriano.

The Richmond County Dental Society Annual Golf Outing will be held at the Trump National Golf Course Bedminster on Thursday, June 16th.  All members of RCDS and SDDS are invited to attend. More event information to follow in the coming weeks.

The Greater New York Dental Meeting is scheduled to be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from November 25, 2022 to November 30, 2022. Information will be updated to the website, gnydm.com, so continue to check for updates and registration information as the event date gets closer.

We would like to make a call to anyone interested in serving on the RCDS board of trustees for 2023. We thank you all for your continued support and look forward to a year of success and in-person events. We are excited to finally see everyone at the meeting on March 15!
