This lecture will review the epidemiology and embryology of cleft lip and palate. The multidisciplinary approach for the long-term management of these patients from birth into adulthood will be discussed, including the goals and timing of surgery during growth. There will also be a review of different surgical techniques, with examples of clinical cases. Upon successful completion of this lecture, attendees will learn about the embryology, incidence and long-term management of patients with cleft lip and palate.
