    Updated Child Abuse Reporting Training Requirements

    ALL licensed dentists and dental hygienists who completed an "once in a lifetime" course must now complete a new Child Abuse Reporting course. This includes newly licensed dentists who completed a New York residency program as of 2023. This course must be completed by April 1, 2025.

    New Federal Mandate (MATE) Update

    (Effective June 26) The Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act, passed by Congress as part of the Omnibus Bill of 2022, mandates most practitioners licensed to prescribe controlled substances, including dentists, complete eight hours of one-time training on safely prescribing controlled substances (Schedules II, III IV, and/or V) in order to receive or renew their registration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

    NEW Controlled Substance Education Requirement for DEA Registration

    In December 2022, the U.S. Congress passed an omnibus spending bill that included the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act. This new law requires prescribers of controlled substances, including dentists, to complete eight hours of one-time training on safely prescribing controlled substances in order to receive or renew their registration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). This new requirement goes into effect on June 27, 2023. --

    Members of the New York State Dental Association (NYSDA) are provided the benefit of having their continuing education (CE) credits recorded by NYSDA. That transcript of credits is available online and has traditionally been accepted by the State Education Department for license renewal purposes.

In order to renew your permit you will need to submit a signed renewal application, proof of Disability insurance and proof of Worker’s Compensation insurance.

    NYSDOL Issues Required Employer Whistleblower Law Poster

    The New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) has issued the required poster that all employers must post about the new New York State Whistleblower Law contained in Section 740 of the New York State Labor Law. Section 740 of the Labor Law took effect January 26, 2022, and is explained in detail in the NYSDOL poster.

    NYS Mask Mandate Lifted for the Public

    This week, Governor Hochul announced that the statewide indoor business mask-or-vaccine requirement was being lifted effective today, Thursday, February 10. It will remain in effect in certain settings, including schools, public transportation centers, hospitals, and all healthcare settings regulated by the NYS Department of Health.

    New York City Issues Mandatory Employee COVID-19 Vaccine Requirements

    New York City has issued its mandatory novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination requirements for employers, effective December 27, 2021. The requirements apply to all employees of dental practices, but do not apply to patients of dental practices.

The grants are available to businesses with revenues up to $2.5 million.
