A message from RCDS Vice President Dr. Joseph Merola
My greetings to all Richmond County members and welcome to a new year of our general membership meetings and events. As we venture into a new year together, we hope this newsletter finds you and your families in good health and spirits.
Richmond County Dental Society (RCDS) and our parent organization, Second District Dental Society (SDDS), are here to address our professional needs and concerns as they occur during our daily endeavors. I sincerely ask for your participation in our societies as they benefit each and every one of us.
Due to COVID-19, our annual installation of officers ceremony was celebrated virtually on February 11, 2021. Immediate SDDS Past President Paul Albicocco presided over the installation of the executive board members: Dr. Lydia Lam (president), Dr. Sandra Scibetta (president-elect), Dr. Joseph Merola (vice president), Dr. Christen Carute (treasurer) and Dr. Allison Blutstein (secretary.)
Also inducted were our current trustees: Dr. Charles Mistretta (immediate past president), Dr. Alan Ingber, Dr. Michael Costa, Dr. Phyllis Merlino, Dr. Bryan Pieroni and Dr. Rebecca Orlick. We wish to thank Dr. Charles Mistretta for an exceptional and unprecedented year as our 2020 president. Throughout the year, Dr. Mistretta worked diligently to provide collaboration between the RCDS and its members, to maintain the integrity of our profession and our organization.
Our first RCDS general membership meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 virtually via Zoom. It will feature Steve Yusupov, D.D.S., M.D., who will lecture on the subject “Head and Neck Oncology in Dental Practice.” Advance registration is required. Click here to register.
Our remaining meetings for the 2021 calendar year will be held on: May 11, September 14, October 19 and November 16. The subjects and presenters of the remaining lectures will be announced at a later date.
The New York State Dental Association House of Delegates meeting will be held from August 13-15, 2021 at the Westin Jersey City. Visit nysdental.org for event information. Also, there will be a golf outing on August 12, the day before the meeting begins, at the Richmond County Country Club in conjunction with SDDS. All members of RCDS and SDDS are encouraged to attend.
The Greater New York Dental Meeting Organization Committee has not determined whether this year’s Meeting will be held in person or virtually. If it is in person, chances are it will be at a reduced capacity at the Marriot Marquis. Information will be posted to gnydm.com as soon as it is available, so keep checking the website and follow @gnydm on social media for updates
We would like to make a call to anyone interested in serving on the RCDS board of trustees for 2022. We thank you all for your continued support and look forward to another successful year together.
Joseph Merola, D.M.D.
2021 RCDS Vice President
