Synopsis:
Difficult cases and traumatic injury do not always mean losing teeth. Many endodontic treatments can save natural teeth. This course will discuss the factors that may assist the clinician to consider maintenance against extraction of teeth with guarded prognosis. In the first half of the presentation, various clinical cases will be presented to review scenarios of large endodontic-periodontic lesions; external and internal resorption; fractures, cracks, and split teeth; large apical periodontitis; and procedural complications such as separated instruments, perforations and retreatment difficulties. The last half of the presentation will review the latest guidelines for traumatic dental injuries such as crown, root fractures, luxations, avulsions and their complications.
Upon successful completion of this course, the attendee will learn:
-
How to make a more informed decision of when to save a compromised tooth and when to extract and consider options for replacement.
- The latest guidelines and treatment decisions for traumatic dental injuries and their complications.
