Synopsis:
Systemic diseases frequently present in the oral cavity. It is important to recognize these presentations in order to treat the oral presentation or diagnose underlying disease. This presentation will review several systemic diseases across systems and etiologies and will explore the oral presentation, pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of these diseases. Upon successful completion of this lecture, attendees will be able to:
- Identify several systemic diseases that have clinical presentation in the oral cavity
- Describe the basic pathophysiology
- Describe systemic and oral presentations
- Discuss diagnosis and management
