DESCRIPTION:Venue:Hilton Garden Inn1100 South Avenue at Lois LaneStaten Isl
 and\, NY 10314(718) 477-2400Featured Clinician:Kenneth S. Kurtz\, D.D.S.\,
F.A.C.P.Director\, Division of Maxillofacial Prosthetics\, Department of
Prosthodontics and Digital Technology\, Stony Brook University School of D
ental MedicineSynopsis:*This three-hour presentation consists of two parts
. Attendees MUST attend both parts of the lecture to receive full credit f
or the course. Partial credit for either segment of the course WILL NOT be
  offered.PART 1Implant-Retained Cantilevers: A Bridge Too Far?Cantilever d
esigns have existed for decades in restorative dentistry. For many reasons
\, cantilevers become necessary in implant dentistry. Their use can be due
to anatomic limitations\, esthetic concerns\, or failure of implant integ
ration. Properly prescribing pontic and retainer design for screw or cemen
t retained cantilever prostheses can be confounding. Clinical treatment il
lustrating one abutment\, one pontic and multiple abutments\, and one pont
ic designs will be detailed and accompanied by supporting scientific liter
ature. Success can be ably predicted via "trial by provisional." Upon succ
essful completion of this course\, attendees will:Understand prosthesis de
sign utilizing engaging abutment components. Confidently prescribe cantile
ver prostheses predicated upon success of the trial provisional prosthesis
. Know when to prescribe gingival ceramic application.PART 2Dental Implant
Intervention for Syndromic and Non-Syndromic Childhood Partial Edentulism
Young patients with hypodontia\, oligodontia and anodontia require careful
evaluation for tooth replacement therapy in a comprehensive fashion. Guid
elines for intervention require flexibility and infrequently\, some clinic
al conditions require aggressive intervention. A review of Delphi Studies
for a subset of patients with ectodermal dysplasia will serve as the basis
for a broader discussion of who\, what\, where and when indicated treatme
nt should proceed. Multiple dental specialty providers can provide a team
approach to address the patient’s needs and a discussion of parental versu
s patient consent will be included\, as well as the genetic basis of the u
nderlying conditions. Upon successful completion of this course\, attendee
s will:Understand definitions of missing teeth.Review timing of dental imp
lant intervention.Appreciate the underlying genetic &amp\; possible long-t
 erm sequalae.Breakfast included MCEU - 3 HOURSTuition:Buy more\, SAVE more
