New Requirements for Invisalign Providers
Align Technology, the manufacturer of the Invisalign orthodontic treatment, has notified dentists of the immediate implementation of new CE and case volume requirements for a dentist to continue to be considered by Invisalign as "certified." Participating dentists must originate at least ten cases per year and complete ten Invisalign CE credits.
SDDS has received a number of calls from concerned members regarding the impact of this new policy, particularly from those dentists who simply cannot meet the case volume requirement. Because this is such a national issue, the ADA is currently working to express member concerns to Align Technology representatives. Please see the recently issued ADA fact sheet below. For now, dentists are advised to seek the advice of an attorney regarding a dentist's contractual obligations to Align Technology Inc., and to contact Align Technology, Inc directly at (407) 470-1000 to express their displeasure or concerns with the new requirements. SDDS will continue to monitor this issue closely and provide updates as they become available.
